SOS Lanka Action Group Photo
This charity organization was founded by Bernadette and George Deden in 2003 with the aim of helping the poor and needy in Sri Lanka in the most direct and cost-effective way possible: ideally all items and monies donated should reach those in need, and as little as possible of the available funds should be expended for 'administration and other costs'. We lay a great deal of emphasis on transparency and accountability: donors will be furnished with all proof of our work, if they request to seek specific related information.

FOLLOW-UP MADE ON DONATED MECHANICAL SEWING MACHINES
During our work stay in Sri Lanka, in December, 2011, we followed up with 11 women who had been given mechanical sewing machines in August, 2010, in order to establish that they are using the machines to improve their livelihoods from the proceeds of the sale of their products. CASH DONATIONS TO SOS LANKA ACTION INSTEAD OF BIRTHDAY PRESENTS
In the true spirit of "TO GIVE IS MORE REWARDING THAN TO RECEIVE" a little girl from Discovery Bay who recently celebrated her 7th birthday had a wonderful idea: after learning the news about SOS LANKA ACTION's annual Christmas Food Hamper Campaign she asked all her B'day party guests to make cash donations to SOS LANKA ACTION in support for our campaign instead of buying her presents. In this way, our favorite hero girl collected and handed over to us no less than HK$ 2,200.00! Thank you JULIET KOUNG for this great idea and your considerable generosity! We will make it a point to inform the recipients of this year's food hampers about your truly loving gift! ...more>>

SOS LANKA ACTION CHRISTMAS HAMPER CAMPAIGN IS GOING WELL
We are well under way reaching our target of 63 Christmas hampers, although time is fast running out. Our volunteers manned a booth at the Discovery College Family Fun Day on November 20, 2010, where a fairly large number of generous donors chipped in and brought us a lot closer to our target. Thank you to all these donors!
A special Thank you to Reika Kai-Oi, Leslie Hwang, Emma Escott and Sophie Jenkins of Discovery College and Caitlin Dye of D.B.I.S (pictured) who donated their entire earnings from their tattoo stall to SOS LANKA ACTION. A very warm and special Thank you to you good girls for your generosity!
